General Description:
The main idea of this project is to have fun with a Christmas classic. We will take the original version of ''The Night Before Christmas'' and write our own funny versions. The sky`s the limit as to the extent and absurdity of your parody. What will Santa Claus look like in your version? Where and what will he deliver? There are some sites listed below that contain some parodies that you can read as examples:

Class 2
Read 2 parodies of
The Night Before Christmas (use links above)
*chose parodies whose subjects you are familar with
*use dictionary to understand new vocabulary
Create a comparison tableau
between the original story The Night Before Christmas and two of the parodies.
Organize the tableau so that you can write the details and events that have
been changed in the parody next to the corresponding part of the original. example
(.doc format)

Class 3
Brainstorm
on an idea for your parody
Construct the same
tableau as class 2 but insert your ideas and possible parody details.
Finish for next class - yourname_tnbc_outline.doc
*if you finish outline in class...check with Mark then proceed to writing your
rough copy.
Classes 4 and 5
Check outline with Mark.
Start writing the first version of your parody.
You have two class periods to finish the first version. Concentrate on matching
the original story and getting your ideas into the story in complete sentences.
Play with and note ideas for rhymes too.
Submit on paper next class - yourname_tnbc_roughcopy1.doc
Class 6
Feedback workshop - Content
Must get feedback (& signature) from at least 2 students in class
Submit same version with student feedback to Mark at end of class
Make modifications
to rough copy (this will be rough copy#2)
Class 7 + 8
Continue improving rough
copy #2 based on feedback (Mark's as well).
Work on rhymes too!
Submit on paper at the end of class #8 for grammar/rhyme analysis
it will be returned to you next day.
Class 9
Work on next version (final
version) of story correcting grammar and making any final modifications to content and rhymes as well.
Class 10 **Strike day Dec 14th...class #10 is for homework.![]()
